The old cliche says breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but how many of us skip out on breakfast for a couple of extra minutes of sleep, work, or TV?

Are You Yokin’ My Chain?…

There's nothing quite like a little wake and make.

Breakfast will not only give you something to look forward to first thing in the morning, it will create positive momentum for the rest of your day.

Why?

Because you're training to take care of yourself first.

In the book ‘The Richest Man in Babylon’. One simple idea that repeats itself is to pay yourself first.

The first 10% of your earnings belong to you and only you. No human or circumstance will ever take that away.

The same applies to your time. Fill the first 10% of your calendar with investments in yourself (Pursue knowledge, a passion, or your health). I chose breakfast because it is easy, and my favorite meal of the day.

Ask yourself this simple question.

Are 15 minutes of less sleep worth the long term benefits?

Waking up isn't easy, especially waking up earlier than you're used to. How will that extra 15 minutes benefit you?

  • Peace

The feeling of the morning is like a warm background. It’s a great time to simply enjoy the present moment, and reflect on your life… Just don’t forget to turn the stove off.

  • Energy

While you were asleep, your body burned hundreds of calories. It’s been 6 hours and it craves nutrients. Sure it can survive without it, but breakfast will maximize your performance!

  • Cooking for yourself is ingrained in our DNA

There’s nothing wrong with eating out, but cooking for yourself saves you money and encourages self-reliance.

‘So, on Monday what happens?’

When you become your own best friend you do things that will make the future you say, ‘Thanks, past me.’

In Psychology, the Consistency Principle states:

“people are motivated toward cognitive consistency and will change their attitudes, beliefs, perceptions and actions to achieve it”

How do you take advantage of that principle?

Making breakfast is about more than eating and meeting your nutritional guidelines. It’s about creating momentum to make the best out of your day.

Take the alternative-

You skip out on breakfast, then you rush to work, then you have a late lunch, then you cry yourself to sleep. Repeat.

‘It’s been one of those days’

A day where you see all the negative.

Our frame of view is very narrow. When we make one bad choice, we’re more likely to stay consistent with our behavior and make another bad choice.

Mine as well indulge, I've already treated myself like garbage today.

One bad choice in itself isn’t bad, but when you clock in numerous little components, they eventually make one big self-sabotaging slime ball.

Of course, you will have bad days even once you incorporate breakfast. But you can always look forward to a brand new day. It becomes a sturdy rock in the unpredictable waves of life.

Time for Action

‘Two hits. Me hittin’ you. You hittin’ the floor.’ — Andrew Clark

My challenge for you is to wake up every day this week, 15–30 minutes early, and make yourself a good breakfast.

Enjoy it. Then begin your routine.

Don't change anything about what you do, except making that window for breakfast.

Let its seed spread into other areas of your life. You’ll feel healthier, energized, and more motivated.
